evangeline would be such an amazing replacement for cullen for many reasons. here are some:

• this would make all the inquisition’s advisors female
• like cullen, evangeline is a (former) templar. she was knight-captain at the white spire (the val royeaux circle), like cullen was at the gallows. the lyrium withdrawal storyline and the templar storyline would both be pretty much intact
• unlike cullen, when push came to shove and a big conflict erupted between templars and mages at the white spire, evangeline sided with the mages
• despite witnessing abominations, blood magic, etc., she’s extremely sympathetic towards mages, much more than cullen ever was/will be
• she saved justinia from being assassinated by a blood mage and has met and fought alongside leliana (and wynne and shale)
• she knows cole, but has forgotten him. she would definitely remember him if she saw him again
• since her father was a former chevalier (who taught her how to fight), she has a number of connections among orlesian nobility. she and josephine would have a lot to talk about
• she was involved in a major storyline regarding the reversal of the rite of tranquility and the seekers of truth. she and cassandra would have a lot to argue about
• obviously: evangeline/leliana, evangeline/cassandra and evangeline/josephine are all ships to consider
• she’s noble and good and would rather do the right thing than follow orders she knows are wrong: the best example of this was when she, shale, leliana and wynne destroyed all the phylacteries at the white spire, thereby freeing all the mages. (try and imagine cullen doing this. that’s right. you can’t.)
• there would also be the possibility of rhys being involved as an agent of the inquisition and actually coming to skyhold, which would mean cole would get more of a storyline and the opportunity to reunite with rhys and evangeline after everything that happened in asunder
• I can see literally no arguments against replacing cullen with evangeline
